The Carleton Queen Makes a Splash
Published 19th July 2012.
It was fun, fun, fun for all those who attended the Family Fun Festival in Youghal this weekend. People came out in their thousands to celebrate the festival and they were not disappointed by the action packed weekend of Festivities kicked off on Friday night with Carleton Village Queen Emma O’Keeffe taking part in the spectacle that was the Mardi Gras Parade.
The rained that had threatened all week remained at bay for the parade, much to the happiness of all the Queens and their intricate hair styles. Our Carleton Queen Emma was very nervous in the run up to the night but pulled it off in the end and made all of us very proud ‘ My hands started to shake as I walked up stage and my heart was beating so loud it nearly blocked out the questions, I think I did my best when it was my turn to speak and I’m very proud of myself as are all my friends and family’.
Fun by the Sea for All Carleton Guests
Although the rain came to call on Saturday it didn’t damp down the atmosphere of the days activities, the Sandcastle and Crab competition were a great hit with the kids and parents just loved the fantastic gourmet food available at the Taste of Youghal Food Festival.
Saturday Night concluded with the Queens Nautical Ball where the winner of the Queen of the Sea Competiton was announced and even though it was not out Emma we wish all the best to Suzie Fitzgibbon of Ahernes
Stormy Stan wows Carleton Village
Water, water everywhere as Sunday’s activities opened with a splash, The RNLI and Coastguard with the aid of RNLI mascot Stormy Stan (Joe Moore) put on a water safety display and this was followed by a Family Activity at the Walter Raleigh Hotel and a Raft Race at the Quays Bar.
A fantastic weekend was had by all and the Carleton Village would like to say a big thank you to Emma O’Keeffe for representing us. Thanks also to all the hard work of the festival sponsors and organisers, we cannot wait to see what you have in store for Carleton Village Guests next year.
